main tasks
- Operate woodworking machines such as mechanical saws, planers, mortisers, and shapers, as well as use hand tools to make precise cuts.
- Shape and form wood pieces or components, adjust joints, and perform planing.
- Prepare wood surfaces for the application of coatings.
- Prepare wood pieces for the application of stains or finishes on finished items.
Skills
- Proficiency in operating equipment such as saws, planers, routers, mortisers, sanders, as well as hand tools with precision.
- Knowledge of different types of wood, their texture, hardness, and modern materials (laminates, polymers) and their applications in woodworking.
- A keen eye for detail, form, and color harmony, with meticulousness in adjustments and finishes.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, sketches, or technical specifications to design custom furniture or pieces.
- Creative problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and personalize creations based on client requests.
- Knowledge and application of safety regulations to prevent accidents and properly maintain equipment.
- Time and workspace management skills to meet deadlines while maintaining high production quality.
